Applications |
Disaster recovery
The L180 library is an integral part of disaster
recovery processes that remotely vault data in
tape form. Tapes can be physically transported
to a remote site or created electronically with
an L180 library at the remote location. |
Backup and restore
The L180 library, configured with tape drives
and tape media, provides backup and recovery for
for mid-size and larger distributed, Open
Systems, UNIX and Windows NT environments.
Backup and restore can be consolidated from
multiple smaller systems to reduce costs and
simplify management. |
Archiving
The L180 library is an efficient, high-capacity
repository for archival data. It can be combined
with disk systems and ASM software to provide a
tiered archival system with performance and
capacity customized to the archiving needs of
the application. |
Fixed
content distribution
The L180 library can act as a high-volume source
for fixed content data, especially when
outfitted with fast-access T9840 tape drives.
High-speed fixed content distribution systems
can utilize the L180 library in a disk-and-tape
storage environment controlled by StorageTek®
Application Storage Manager® (ASM) software to
reduce costs without impacting performance. |
|
Benefits |
Easy
management
Intelligent software monitors and collects
library statistics. Web-based access allows easy
remote monitoring. Streamlined management
optimizes your use of space and increases
availability. |
Investment protection
The L180 library’s Open Systems compatibility
gives you a solution that will work now and in
the future. This library is a long-term business
asset. |
Faster backup, restore, archiving
With throughput rates as high as 1.26 terabytes
per hour, the L180 library gives you the speed
you need to accelerate backup, restore and
archiving. |
Increased reliability
For higher uptime, tape drives, fans, power
supplies are hot-swappable. Uninterrupted and
redundant power supplies are available. No
routine maintenance is required. |
|
Features |
Fibre,
Ultra SCSI interfaces
The L180 library’s native Fibre Channel and
Ultra SCSI interfaces provide the right access,
no matter what the job. |
4D
robotics, digital vision system
To keep information moving, the fast 4D robotics
and digital vision system let all applications
read and write simultaneously, with more than
450 cartridge exchanges per hour. |
SAN-readiness
A SAN-ready solution, the L180 library provides
two-gigabit Fibre Channel connectivity and
support for dynamic world wide naming (dWWN) for
the library and Fibre Channel drives. |
Mixed-media support
Support of concurrent multiple StorageTek tape
drive technologies let you put the right data on
the right device at the right cost. StorageTek
tape drive technologies include: StorageTek
T9840, StorageTek T9940, LTO Ultrium®
Generations 1 and 2, SDLT, DLT

Software |
StorageTek Automated Cartridge System
Library Software (ACSLS Manager)
StorageTek ACSLS Manager™ software is a UNIX-based
library-management application for mainframe,
AS/400, UNIX and NT platforms. ACSLS Manager
software functions as the central service provider
for all library operations. It efficiently shares
library resources with any application on any
system. |
StorageTek Library Manager software
StorageTek Library Manager software provides
simplified management of tape libraries and lower
operations costs with the ability to share resources
between applications. |
