Applications |
Backup and restore
The TimberWolf 9740 library’s capacity and
footprint make it ready for backup and
restore of large, multi-platform
environments. The TimberWolf can be used to
consolidate backup and restore to a single
library, reducing costs and simplifying
management. |
Archiving
The TimberWolf 9740 library provides
significant capacity in a small footprint
for high-volume archiving applications. It
can be combined with disk systems and
Application Storage Manager (ASM) software
to provide a tiered archival system with
performance and capacity customized to the
archiving needs of the application. |
Disaster recovery
The TimberWolf 9740 library is an integral
part of disaster recovery processes that
remotely vault data in tape form. Tapes can
be physically transported to a remote site,
created electronically with a TimberWolf
9740 library at the remote location or
created simultaneously at both locations. |

|
Benefits |
Investment protection
The TimberWolf 9740 library supports a wide
variety of tape technologies, enabling you
to choose the right drives and media for
your changing application needs. |
Scalability for growth
The cartridge exchange mechanism enables you
to attach up to six 9740 libraries to allow
your storage capacity to grow to 175
terabytes of native data. |
Higher resource utilization
With the addition of the StorageTek Virtual
Storage Manager® (VSM®) system you can use
nearly 100 percent of the capacity of your
tapes, unleashing the value trapped in
under-utilized tapes. |
Streamlined management
Maintain control of your data with many
compatible software tools, including the
StorageTek Automated Cartridge System
Library™ software (ACSLS Manager) for
client-server environments. |
|
|
Software |
StorageTek Automated Cartridge System
Library software (ACSLS Manager)
StorageTek ACSLS Manager™ software is a UNIX-based
library-management application for mainframe,
AS/400, UNIX and NT platforms. ACSLS Manager
software functions as the central service provider
for all library operations. It efficiently shares
library resources with any application on any
system. |
