LibraryStation software
StorageTek® LibraryStation™ software uses a client/server approach to automate MVS operations, providing enterprise-wide storage management, remote vaulting and shared library resources.

Applications
Backup and restore
LibraryStation can be used to allow mainframes, UNIX and Windows systems to share large tape libraries.

Benefits
Data in place
To eliminate the need to physically move data, LibraryStation software uses client/server software and channel extension for remote vaulting.
Data across the enterprise
Clients on different platforms can use the MVS as the server for a safe, secure, common repository for mission-critical data.
Full Access
Users can selectively secure and share data in large StorageTek tape libraries. Non-MVS users can remotely access reliable mainframe automated tape libraries.

Features
Standard features:
Easy sharing
Users can share large tape libraries between mainframes, UNIX and Windows systems. Data is stored in automated libraries for fast recovery.
Add clients
Parallel Sysplex significantly increases the number of MVS images to 256 from a maximum of 16 LibraryStation software systems.
Selective security
Security interfaces (RACF and CA-ACF2) limit client access to LibraryStation-controlled volumes, and MVS access to client-controlled volumes.
Good connection
LibraryStation supports TCP/IP, APPC/LU 6.2 and XCF without additional hardware or software.
