The StorageTek® BladeStore
disk system gives you 6.25 terabytes to 150 terabytes of
storage at a fraction of the cost of traditional
disk-based storage. Combining the benefits of ATA disk
drives, Fibre Channel connectivity and an
enterprise-class RAID controller and system enclosure,
BladeStore offers an affordable way to protect data and
provide fast access to fixed content. |

Applications |
Archiving
BladeStore can be combined with tape systems and
StorageTek® Application Storage Manager® (ASM)
software to provide a tiered archival system with
performance and capacity customized to the archiving
needs of the application. BladeStore provides the
performance most archiving systems require at a
lower price than conventional disk systems.
|
Backup
and restore
BladeStore can be used with tape in disk-to-disk-to
tape backup and restore implementations to shorten
backup windows and enable smooth and rapid restores.
BladeStore integrates easily with backup
applications that support Fibre Channel/SCSI disk
systems. |
Disk
mirroring
By implementing BladeStore as the secondary copy
target in disk mirroring configurations, costs are
reduced without impacting the performance of online
data. With Remote Volume Mirroring, BladeStore has
complete synchronous and asyncronous disk mirroring
functionality. |
|
|
Benefits |
Improved
data protection
Replicate more business critical data to improve
disaster recovery and business continuance
capabilities. Improve backup and recovery
performance while simplifying operations. |
Faster
access to fixed content
BladeStore’s performance and capacity allow you to
more cost-effectively place your most active fixed
content information (images, video, documents,
emails) online for faster response times. |
Increased
return-on-investment
Reduce your disk purchase and implementation costs
by using BladeStore for fixed content storage and
distribution, disk-to-disk backup and data
replication, rather than more expensive disk. |
Efficient
use of floor space
BladeStore provides 12.5 terabytes in 6 u and scales
to 150 terabytes in two standard racks. This dense
storage in a small footprint helps you capture more
value from your finite floor space. |
|
|
Features |
Powerful,
simple software
Configuration, reconfiguration, expansion,
maintenance and tuning can be achieved with no
system downtime and no interruption to system I/O
from any location on the network. |
Intelligent architecture
With StorageTek Intelligent BladeStore Architecture
(IBA), BladeStore delivers transfer rates of up to
400 megabytes per second, allowing you to meet
demanding storage requirements. |
Heterogeneous support
BladeStore offers seamless integration with all
major Open Systems O/S platforms in SAN and
direct-host-attach environments. |
Seamless
integration
Take advantage of the benefits of ATA disk-based
storage without modifying existing software
applications or compromising performance,
reliability, availability and serviceability. |
Capacity
System capacity (with 1.25 TB storage blades): 6.25
TB to 150 TB |

Software |
SANtricity
Software Suite
SANtricity Software Suite is a complete disk management
suite for StorageTek B-Series and D-Series disk systems.
It has four components: SANtricity™ Storage Manager,
SANshare™ Storage Partitioning, Remote Volume Mirror and
Snapshot Copy. Together these tools provide all of the
management, replication and data sharing capabilities
needed to implement enterprise-class disk storage in an
Open Systems environment. |
